Credit union directors are typically individuals who hold leadership positions within the community. As with boards of directors in general, discretion and confidentiality are the rule. Directors meet regularly throughout the year to critically review and discuss credit union policies and operations. In conjunction with management, they also decide the agenda for the annual meeting.
Many credit unions maintain consultative committees which meet
regularly and report to the boards of directors. Over 5,500 Canadians
participate as volunteers on credit union boards and committees
across the country.
